"I have some zombie albums that can not be wiped. When searching the Internet, I found this solution: click on the Photos icon > press "Done" > tap "Edit" > click the little red circle with a horizontal white line > tap the "Delete" button. But that did not work. I think maybe it is because they are not synced from my computer. Please help!"
It is frustrating when you encounter that. Usually you can get rid of a normal album easily. But now, you will probably need an application to help you do this. It is quire necessary in that deleting the files manually may be such a headache with complex steps. So, in this article, iOS Data Eraser is recommended to solve your problem.
iOS Data Eraser is actually an application for file deletion and privacy protection. It can be a tool to delete albums on iPhone permanently. (The erasure of music albums is introduced in the third part.) To continue, you need to download this software and follow the guide.
You are going to see three parts in this article:
Note: Please perform a backup before you erase the data. So, when you accidentally lose something, they can still be reached. (No a single tool can recover the albums on iPhone again.)
The pictures can be previewed in this mode. With simply two steps, the content will be gone forever.
Step 1. Connect iPhone to PC and Scan for Private Data
Plug the phone in. When connection fails, go to your handset and tap "Trust" on the pop-up box if there is any. Or you can try pulling out and reconnect the device again when that did not work.
And then, you will see this, showing some information of the iDevice. (Space of memory card left, iOS version and name of the phone). Choose the mode, "Erase Private Data", in the third place.
Click the button "Start Scan" to proceed to the next step. The scanning process should not take you long.
Step 2. Preview Photos and Erase Them
Please note that the "Photos" in the "Deleted Data" need to be ticked. In the home directory, you can click "Photos" and the content will be displayed on the right. Next, check the specific one you want and press "Erase Now". Wait until data are successfully erased.
Only the images that you have already cleared will be dealt with. Absolutely no impact on the currently existing files.
Step 1. Scan for Wiped Images
Connect the phone to your computer and choose "Erase Deleted Files". Next, you will see this interface which is quite similar to the one in Part One. Click the button in the middle and the program will search for what you need.
Step 2. Get Rid of the Unwanted Files
The result is shown in this way. In this mode, you can not see the photos but other details like names. Tick it and tap "Erase Now" on the lower right corner.
Now, erasure is in process. Do not disconnect the iPhone. If you want to stop, please make use of the button on the upper right corner.
Press "Done" at the end.
The whole phone will be reset. That means every single file on the device will be gone forever. When you want to sell the iPhone, this is a good choice to protect the personal information from prying eyes.
Step 1. Connect the iPhone and Get Ready for Erasure
Please shut down the apps running in the background, or it might fail. When connection is done, enter the word "delete" and press "Erase Now". (You can select security level first if you wish. Usually, we can set it by default because it is safe enough and does not cost too much time.)
Step 2. Keep the Phone Connected Until Erasure is Over
At the beginning, iOS Data Eraser will have your photos, songs, messages and all the other content deleted. (The button "Stop" is always accessible when needed.)
And then, the phone will restart automatically. The software will let you know when it is done.
Finally, we come to the most important part, "Erasing all of free space". It is supposed to make all the files irrecoverable. The time left can be seen on the top of the interface. And you will know it is over when the window says "Completed".
